Rare 'Super Blue Blood Moon' - Sighted here at RCH!

Here at RCH Emerg we see some pretty cool stuff and not all of it is inside the department.  Here is a great photo of a Super Blue Blood Moon taken by Dr. Caroline Tyson when she and a few colleagues stepped outside on January 31st of 2018.  What a great sight to start the new year.

What is a Blue Moon?

A.  A blue moon is the second full moon in one calendar month.

Then what is a Blood Moon?

A.  A phenomenon where the moon is in total eclipse and appears a reddish color.  The reddish color is from the sunlight being filtered and refracted by the earth's atmosphere.

Okay, so why is it a Super Moon too?

A.  A moon is considered a Super Moon when it appears much larger than usual in the sky because of how close it is to the earth.

When is the next one?

A.  The next Super Blue Blood Moon won't happen until Jan. 31, 2037 , and it will be visible in North America, Europe, Asia, Australia and parts of Africa.

2016 Annual Resident Welcome/Orientation

Each year we are excited to welcome two new residents to our Fraser Family.  Dr. Caroline Tyson hosted a wonderful dinner at her place welcoming Dr. Adrianna Rowe and Dr. Shayla Behrens.  Great photos!
